Bali Blue
I bought this car from a friend in Southern California who stored it in a shipping container. He never started or drove it for the entire 10 years of ownership. He bought it from an auto shop in Dallas TX where it sat in a garage for at least 20 years. I rented a trailer and towed it to my garage in Thompson Falls. I went through the car front head to toe, top to bottom. Flushed tank, cleaned carbs, changed oil, replaced fuel lines, flushed brakes. Did a tune up. I got it fired up bit it smoked like crazy. Called my friend in SoCal, turned out he put marvel mystery oil in the cylinders. I cleaned the plugs and took him (Lil’ Blue) for a drive around the block. The clutch needed to be adjusted, but the transmission shifted perfectly. I decided to take Lil’ Blue for a longer drive to Plains MT. He decided it was too far and too soon and began to die out on me. Fortunately there was a safe place off HWY 200 to pull off and let me do some troubleshooting. I knew it was a fuel problem so checked the lines and pump, switched to reserve and got him going again. I came to the conclusion that the fuel problem was the lever wasn’t all the way on so he was starving for gas. Since then , I drove Blue to Kellogg, ID over the Thompson pass without any problems.
